We invite partners, funders, corporates, governments, and individuals to join us in advancing literacy for children in pastoralist, refugee, and arid and semi-arid communities across Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.
How to get involved
Six ways to support VLA.

Financial Sponsorship
Fund a literacy programme cycle, a community reading space, or a round of developmental screening. All gifts are tied to named, reportable deliverables.

In-Kind Donations
Books and reading materials, devices for offline screening, vehicles, printing, or space. In-kind support is credited and reported in our annual impact report.

Professional Volunteering
Teachers, facilitators, translators, disability and screening specialists, AI practitioners, and researchers. Skills-based volunteering is integral to how we deliver every pillar.

Media & Communications
Help document our work through journalism, photography, film, or social media. Communities we serve are rarely reported on from the inside, and visibility is essential to our fundraising and advocacy.

Institutional Partnerships
Faith institutions, schools, universities, health NGOs, and county and national government agencies. These partnerships extend our reach and ground our programmes in infrastructure that already exists.

Research & Policy Partnerships
Research institutions, development partners, and policy bodies working on education for mobile and displaced populations. These partnerships turn what we learn on the ground into decisions made above it.
Partner on research
Commission the evidence you need.
Universities, research bodies, development organisations, and government partners can co-design a study around a live programme, fund a specific piece of documentation, or commission a brief on a question that has to be answered before a decision is made. Our fifth pillar exists so that what we learn in these communities reaches the people setting policy for them.
